Pascal Johann studied medicine at the Universities of Tübingen, Bordeaux and Boston. His MD thesis in the lab of Prof. Ingo Müller (now University of Hamburg-Eppendorf) characterized immunosuppressive properties of mesenchymal stem cells from solid pediatric tumors (completes in 2011) – he subsequently started a residency in pediatrics (board certification in 2018) at university Hospital Heidelberg, followed by a subspeciality training in pediatric oncology (completed in 2020).In parallel he did two postdocs at German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ, Heidelberg) which have shaped his interest in pediatric brain tumors and data-based research and lead to his habilitation (2020). After his relocation to Augsburg (2020) he has served as an attending in the Department of Pediatric Oncology at the University Children’s Hospital, since 2023 he is the appointed professor for experimental pediatrics.
